The rate of plastic surgery in the United States is rising.

A new report shows that cosmetic procedures were the most popular in 2018. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), nearly 18 million people underwent minor cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures in the United States in 2018.

This figure indicates that there were nearly a quarter of a million additional operations in 2018 compared to 2017.

The rate of cosmetic surgery has increased significantly in the United States over the past five years.

The authors of a previous study in the United Kingdom analyzed 204 questionnaires to determine the factors that motivate people to undergo cosmetic surgery.

The questionnaires included questions about self-esteem, life satisfaction, physical attractiveness, financial ability, religiosity, and personal and family attitudes toward plastic surgery.

The researchers wanted to understand the factors that influenced a person's choice of cosmetic surgery. They also sought to identify the factors that influenced the perceived benefits of these procedures.

The results showed that religious beliefs and low self-esteem (not liking oneself) significantly influenced the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.

The results showed that women who had low self-esteem, satisfaction, and attractiveness, were less concerned about religious beliefs, and were more exposed to the media, and were therefore more likely to accept and accept cosmetic surgery.

Although women are generally more attracted to cosmetic surgery, the number of men considering these procedures has also been significant.

The ASPS reported that the top five cosmetic procedures in the United States in 2018 were:

Breast augmentation - 313,735 procedures.

Liposuction - 258,558 procedures.

Nose reshaping - 213,780 procedures.

Eyelid surgery - 206,529 procedures.

Tummy tuck - 130,081 procedures.

The American Academy of Plastic Surgery recommends that people considering cosmetic surgery carefully consider the training, education, experience, and work history of the plastic surgeon who will perform their procedure.
